This is Spencer minutes before he entered the MTC in Provo, Utah. Spencer is going to serve a two year mission in Guatemala City South. He will be in the Provo MTC for 3 weeks and then he will fly to Guatemala to enter their MTC for 6 weeks and then onto teaching the gospel to the Guatemalans in Spanish! Just in time for Christmas! We are so excited for him. I will keep everyone updated on how Spencer's doing and pictures he sends me and letters too.

Spencer's first letter from the field
My name is elder Dickson and this has been the longest week of my life!!!First day I went out with a random elder to a members home to eat and there were big cockroaches everywhere the food was good beans and eggs with a crunch no joke and that night on the bus i got a bad bloody nose and was like feeling like crap gave up and prayed for help and next thing i know I'm being robbed by a gang in the city. Yeah first day thank goodness I had nothing they wanted they just patted me down. Next day I'm sent to a small little town outside the city called Santa Catarina Pinula fun place with my first comp elder Ajanel and he does not speak any English first we went and gave a blessing to a member I did the anointing in espaƱol then we went teaching, and let me tell you these people live in rooms that are smaller then brooks. Their made of tin with five people living in a house if you could call it that, so humble. That first night sucked, my apartment well lets just say the Hamann apartments would be a 5 star hotel the area I'm in looks like a mix between fall out 3 and resident evil 5! Yeah dead serious. We contact everyday and its my favorite part so far, on Friday we went to the ward holiday party, and its tradition is for the elders quorum to dress like puppets and dance in the chapel to "everyday I'm shuffling" yeah I'm the only one who knew what the song said yeah tons a fun. So i eat mostly tortillas and beans with salsa on everything and i like it in truth better then the ccm food. So then comes Sunday they introduce me in sacrament meeting we had investigators with us really cool and then my comp leans over to me and says your baptizing little Wendy Hernandez. So yeah I had my first baptism yesterday I'll send you pics next week so after this week and I'm sure I'm forgetting stuff it was like the lord said welcome to the mission field we´ve been expecting you :)
